Having been inducted into the Seattle Mariners Hall of Fame, Suzuki Ichiro, Japanese former Major League Baseball star, made a speech in English in the induction ceremony at the Seattle Mariners stadium on Saturday.

I was deeply impressed with his speech because he:
1. had passion to communicate
2. had amazing and entertaining content
3. spoke understandable English(not necessarily fluent but with right words and pronunciation)
For example, Ichiro addressed Louis Victor Piniella, former MLB player
and a manager for Mariners as follows.
“Lou kissed me right here on the cheek,” Ichiro said. “The manager gave me a big wet kiss. That doesn't happen in Japan. I was shocked.
Honestly, I was scared. I thought to myself if this is customary in America, I might not make it here. Remember, we won 116 games that year. I wasn't ready for 116 kisses from the
manager.”
This speech is, I believe, a good example for non-native speakers of English.
Not focus on how to speak like native speakers but on the content with passion!
