Stop criticizing each other; Fight COVID-19 together on the globe!

The number of the COVID-19 infected on the globe has been increasing day by day. Bunch of criticism and discrimination caused by the inaccurate information has been spread worldwide as well.

Each country’s government and people are combating this virus. So are the Japanese government and people.

Japanese Prime Minister Abe's administration with committed support from its bureaucrat and expert team are fighting against the unprecedented coronavirus including the UK’s cruise ship “Diamond Princess” case, which is still under heavy fire from the world.

Japan is a democratic country to respect constructive discussions anywhere, anytime. I do not think, however, this is the right time merely to focus on criticizing the government effort. We, all people in Japan are combating with the virus under Japanese Prime Minister Abe's leadership in a democratic and sophisticated way; no shut down of whole cities; no autocratic commands but strong requests such as closing schools and refraining from close contact activities nationwide to stop drastic increase of the “cluster”.

Life and safety of the people surely comes first but mitigating negative impact on the economy is also important. It is an ultimate matter of balance.

I trust the government effort toward this unprecedented challenge and wisdom and appropriate behaviors of the people in Japan.

We will see the outcome, hopefully positive one, in a few weeks!
